Second round of TINFO Grants for 2026 now open

 

TINFO has received a further €10,000 from the Albert Saloranta Foundation for distribution as translation grants in 2026.

We organised the first application round in the spring, and the autumn application period is 19 August–17 September 2026.

The purpose of the grants is to promote Finnish plays internationally. The plays to be translated are selected through peer review.

Applicants may include, for example, playwrights, agencies, theatres, festivals, or translators. The TINFO grant is always paid directly to the translator.

The translator must be a native speaker (or otherwise have native-level proficiency) in the language they are translating into. We require the translator to have previous experience in literary translation, preferably also in translating plays. If a translator who is not a native-speaking, professional drama translator is to be used, the application must include a separate justification. The panel will assess the translator’s qualifications based on the information provided.
